A little bit about me

I am a mother of a three year old little boy. I am looking for work from Huntington- any where in Lincoln county- hurricane- alum creek. I have been babysitting/ nannieing since I was 15yrs old. I am willing to work with you on the price if u have more than one child. I started in 2009, I lived with my aunt and cousin. My aunt is bed fast and her daughter got pregnant with a beautiful baby boy, he was born oct.5,2009 I was there when he was born at Cabell Huntington Hospital at 2:33 am. From then on out I would get up go to school and when I got home I began taking care of him while his mom went to night class then started working. I have had him going on 9 years now, he now has a 2year old sister I watched as well. I was taking care of them until his mom decided to homeschool him due to his severe ADHD and mental health issues. I also have a single father friend that I have been helping him take care of his two kids since they were three and four. His son is going on 9 and his daughter is going on 8. Yes, I have had all 5 at one time on several occasions. I will need to bring my three year old son with me to work my husband has a full time job and I don’t have anyone to watch him but I will provide everything he needs, he is potty trained, which I will help anyone’s child with if needed. I absolutely love kids. I always have. I like to read to them and play. I like doing learning games and flash cards. I enjoy playing and getting on the floor with kids but I also clean and cook for them. I do laundry, sweep, mop, dust, toilets, and dishes. If kids are old enough I do encourage them to help clean up after themselves by picking up their toys (my little boy does pick up toys, he may make the mess first but by the end of play time he does pick them up). Right now the job I do is in-home care, I take care of elderly people, I cook, clean, take out the trash, make the beds for them. I bath them, change them, feed them and do anything they ask. I take them to the stor...

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Hamlin, WV

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Hamlin can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Hamlin Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in West Virginia?
  • Do you have a West Virginia driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
