A little bit about me

am seeking a nanny position where I can build on my experience working in preschool and with children with behavioral and special needs. I’m looking for an opportunity to work closely with a family to provide consistent, compassionate care and to support children’s emotional, social, and cognitive development in a home setting. I hope to deepen my skills in individualized care, early childhood education, and building strong, trusting relationships with both children and parents. I'm especially interested in gaining experience with infants or toddlers, supporting routines, learning through play, and contributing positively to a child’s growth in a more personal, one-on-one environment.

A little bit about me

Hi!
I am a mother of 2 grown men, ages 26 and 30 who have been on their own for over 6 years now.

I always knew that I wanted to work with children. When I was in high school, I took a year long early childhood development course that solidified this for me. Through that class I was able to get my first official job at a private home daycare. I had been babysitting since I was 10 for multiple families through word of mouth and had quite the resume already. I enjoyed my nearly 5 years at the daycare immensely!

I always knew having my own private home daycare was my calling, although my soon to be husband had other ideas. So it stayed in the back of my mind as something that I'd like to do one day.

During that time I was lucky enough to raise my children and work at a grocery store. Which I have since retired from.

I am now working with children on the Autism Spectrum and it really is so fulfilling seeing them grow.

I would love to continue working with children.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Fresno, CA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Fresno Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Fresno? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Fresno?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in CA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
