A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Jayla Brown! I have professionally been in the Childcare field since I was 14 years old, working with children ages 3-12. Last year, I worked at Highland Elementary's ESY (extended school year) program last year, helping teacher's with their Special Education students ages 3-11.

I am a great listener, a strong communicator, and I currently have pending CPR & First Aid Certificates (they will be complete July 3rd).

I want to be a nanny because I love working with chiIdren. Caring for children is something that is very special to me, as I am an older sister, and an older cousin. I believe all children should be loved and cared for, no matter their physical or mental health, disabilities, or age.

My mother is a teacher and an After School Program Coordinator. Growing up, seeing her do her job has always inspired me and taught me how to communicate with children and parents.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Working at Peralta Elementary (in Oakland, CA) for 4 years! I did night care from 5 - 9 PM, watching more than 20 kids with one other person. I was also invited to volunteer during the school hours when I wasn't at school, and worked in the After School Program alongside other instructors to lead snack time, help with enrichment, and homework time.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I am a dancer and singer, so I enjoy anything when it comes to music! I also enjoy coloring, building legos, helping with homework, and board games. Anything your child is willing to show and/or teach me, I will be excited to participate.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is understanding the child(ren) you are working with. You must introduce yourself and get to know them before you can step into their world and try to take the lead as an adult/nanny. You have to take small steps, but gaining trust takes time and skill.

My experience with special needs children...

Last year (June - July 2025), I worked at Highland Elementary's ESY (extended school year) program last year, helping teacher's with their Special Education students ages 3-11. I worked with children on the spectrum, hard of hearing, and physically disabled.
