I am a qualified SNNB, am first aid and CPR trained, have a clean driving license, vaccinated and hold an up to date police check. I am bubbly and love my job, whether it is running after a child at the playground or sitting quietly reading them a book. In fact one of the most consistent questions I get asked by work families is ‘’ How do you have so much energy and patience?’’ There is no age of child that I don’t enjoy working with. Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Working in kindergarten and elementary schools as both a kindergarten teacher and on a one to one basis for SEN support in elementary.
Tutoring for pre school and middle school entry exams (Private schools)

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love fresh air and fun outdoors. Exploring the beach for shells and stones, while making up pirate stories, or building dens in the trees and pretending to be explorers or bears…. The imaginative fun is endless.
Spending time learning in museums and art galleries at a child’s pace is fascinating and very rewarding.
Indoors I love to create arts and crafts projects, bake, read and spend time letting my charges develop through puzzles and games.
Most of all I like to be adaptable to each child to nurture them as they explore, develop and grow.

The most important part about being a nanny...

To absolutely bring energy and a smile to every day in the job. To work with patience and care, and to always be open and clear in communication with the parent or parents.

My experience with special needs children...

A great amount of time during my career has been spent working with children with additional support needs: Autism, ADHD, ODD, and speech delays have been the most common. A number of my charges have had specific dietary issues which required special diets. I have also worked in preschool through senior school with both one to one and groups of children with varying behaviour difficulties.

The most important part about being a nanny...

So many great stories to tell, but one of my favourites -
One of the little boys I looked after was absolutely in love with the ‘Solomon and Mortimer’ stories by Catherine Rayner. He loved us to take on the characters. One very lovely, sunny day whilst swimming and playing on a very busy beach, he had decided he was going to be Solomon and his brother was going to be Mortimer. At one point, as I was running along the beach after his little brother, he shouts out at the top of his voice ‘Jill, you are the biggest Hippo!’ 😂
I have told that story many times.
