A little bit about me…

Hi! I'm Michelle, a 26-year-old student from the Sunny South Africa, and I have a deep passion for working with children. With 10 years of experience (eight of which are paid professional experience), I have had the joy of nurturing and caring for babies, special-needs children, toddlers, kids, and teenagers. Each day spent with them has been a unique adventure filled with laughter, learning, and love. Currently, I am excitedly embarking on a new journey as I go back to school in pursuit of a career as a niccu nurse. With a US driver's license in hand and many years experience in emergency first aid, I'm ready to continue spreading warmth and making a positive impact wherever I go!

Warm wishes,
Michelle

A little bit about me…

I'm Michelle, a Hmong American 26 year old born and raised in Wisconsin now residing in northern California. I've always enjoy working with children (I come from a huge family) and have decided to make it my career. I find working with children extremely rewarding as I get to be a part of their life and watch them achieve milestones. I also want to support parents when it comes to needing help or assistant. I have daycare experience but switched to being a nanny as I realize I prefer working closely with one family and their children. I am patient and work well under pressure. If there's any else you would like to know, don't hesitate to ask. I would be happy to respond.

A little bit about us…

Overview: Infant Cousins Need Full Time Nanny In SF Starting Jan!

Dates: Jan 6 2025 (min 6 mo, ideally 1 year contract). Mon-Fri, roughly 8am-4pm (subject to change) slightly.

Location: North SF (Marina and NoPa). We live a 7 min drive apart. We will switch locations each week unless specified otherwise.

About us: we are two sisters one year apart and best friends, our husbands are also best friends. Our boys are 6 weeks apart and will be best friends! They're both sweet, easy-going cuties who are easy to love.

The ideal candidate:
We are looking for an experienced, adaptable and kind-hearted nanny to take care of our 2 infants (both 6-7mo boys) starting in January. The ideal candidate is energetic and attentive, has experience with infants, and is passionate about integrating play and activities into the day that will help our little ones develop and learn (other languages a plus!). They'll be interested in collaborating on schedules for the kids, can introduce us to fun/engaging activities both indoors and outdoors, and occasionally take the babies to activities outside the home (i. e. music class or story time). In addition to infant care, we'd like someone who is open to doing some family assistant support when time allows (during naps) with duties like light baby meal prep, baby laundry, and organizing baby's things. Above all, we are looking for someone reliable who will be part of our family for a while!

We have a spare room/bathroom downstairs that we'd like to offer to an au pair in exchange for part-time child care duties.

Most care will be for the infant, but we may need occasional help with the 11-year-old, who spends part of the week at his mom's house.

How to Hire a Nanny in San Francisco, CA

Nanny Lane is an easy-to-use website that helps families find experienced local nannies in San Francisco. Simplify your nanny search and find your perfect nanny today. Our services include background checks, nanny contracts, and nanny payroll.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in San Francisco, CA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

San Francisco Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in San Francisco? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in San Francisco?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in CA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
