A little bit about me

I’m a Montessori teacher(infants-elementary). I have worked in the classroom with infants, toddlers and elementary. As a nanny I have only worked with infants and toddlers. I moved to Beaverton from Kailua Kona, Hawaii last summer and have been working at Nordstrom. I’m missing children terribly. I always place safety above anything else with children. I don’t believe in screen time and I would fill the days with reading, singing, playing and exploring the environment, both inside and outside. As a Montessori teacher I look for teaching moments in everything I do with children. I find the “aha” moments with a child to joyous. When a child masters a new skill or learns a new concept the look on his/her face is priceless.

I have my first aid and CPR training. I love animals and welcome helping with any pets. I’ll do light cleaning, the child’s laundry, and meal prep. I have also potty trained many children. I will cuddle and play with your child and hopefully bring them joy.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve taught in Montessori classrooms ages 6 weeks - 3 years and also elementary. I have worked as a full time nanny and also as a vacation nanny.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to read, sing, play games, play make believe and dress up. Going outdoors and exploring is a lot of fun and has many teaching moments. As a Montessori trained teacher I also love to teach a child how to care for themselves, i.e. learning to dress, how to use utensils, putting toys away.

The most important part of being a nanny is providing safe care.

My experience with special needs children...

I have very little experience with special needs. I’ve had a 3 year old with autism who was a joy to work with, but that is my only experience.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I remember one family who were in Hawaii on business. I had been taking care of their 4 and 6 year old girls 10 hours a day for 2 weeks. I arrived each morning while the girls were still asleep and left after they went to bed. The girls kept saying how much they loved me and didn’t want to leave me on the last day. Literally, 5 minutes after they said that, their parents walked in and they didn’t even turn to say goodbye. They ran to their parents and completely forgot about me. It was the way it’s supposed to be and I thought it was precious. I knew I was the right person to be with them when the parents were gone, but I truly was only a placeholder and seeing their excitement over their parents arrival was wonderful.
