I worked as a cafeteria assistant as well as volunteered for several Norfolk Public elementary Schools. I had the opportunity to work with different ages and special needs children. I have also done home and weekend care for military families.

Arts & crafts, playing board games, teaching basic skills like self care, early learning towards careers, trades, ect, and help with homework. I love to bake and teach on how to make healthy snacks from scratch. I enjoy playing clean up and to dancing.

Making sure they feel safe, secure, making sure they are clean, happy and fed! It means a lot to see them happy as well as the parents and their family.
My experience with special needs children...
I have not had much experience with special needs children except for when I worked for Norfolk Public Schools. I always assisted with small duties like feeding, helping with self care, like washing, clothing, daily routines. I have assisted with going on trips just to watch and keep them safe.

Watching movies together or reading books and interacting with the kids just to see them smile.
