More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
In Venezuela, I volunteered over 120 hours as a math teacher for students in less-resourced areas. In the United States, while I was a student at Santa Fe College, I had the opportunity to serve as a mentor for adults and kids with learning disabilities. During that year, I learned how to deal with kids from different neurodivergent backgrounds and mastered different skills to transmit the knowledge they needed.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I really enjoy simplifying the knowledge I have to share it with them. In early stages, it is crucial for children to obtain good information, and I'm fascinated by that process. The most important thing is to feed their curiosity and not neglect it. I also like to spend time outdoors, specifically to play soccer. In my previous job as a mentor for adults and kids with learning disabilities, I used to lead yoga and soccer events.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Not precisely as a nanny, but one of the kids I had to take care of in my previous job as a mentor for kids with learning disabilities was a 17-year-old. He really did not enjoy much of the structure of the program we had at my college, so I talked to my boss and we started to create activities that were more tailored to his needs. There were internships on campus for the members of the program to develop professional skills in retail stores or food pantries, and this kid did not enjoy the internships available, he was more sports-driven. My boss and I decided to establish a new internship at the sports center on campus for him, where he definitely learned and enjoyed more. I also implemented soccer activities in order to make his experience more inclusive and enjoyable. This was my favorite moment at my job because it shows that truly everyone can like something and be good at it; we just need to find those specific opportunities.
