A little bit about me

Hello,
I have nannied for dozens of families in this town for over a decade. While I took a big break to travel with the circus, I miss working with kids and am ready to go back. I have been full-time with families from infancy to adolescence and did an array of tasks including grocery shopping, driving kids to activities, helping with homework, delegating children's chores, and supervising play time. I have had CPR and first aid training multiple times over. I enjoy inspiring kids to be themselves, to find the fun in life, and to be good, honest people. I fully support the silliest of conversations and love listening to the things their imaginations comes up with while encouraging them to think independently and to challenge them to solve problems on their own.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was the program director for an aerial silks studio in St. Augustine, FL. I managed class sizes of up to 16(!) at a time with the help of a student aid. I organized student showcases and you better believe safety was my top priority (closely followed by creativity). I also babysat at the Juice Box Yoga studio for years, watching as many as 10 kids at a time while their parents were able to practice yoga.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Anything creative and physical! If we are trying to learn handstands (not that I can do them but I can teach and spot them) or backbends or climbing ANYTHING I am your person. My focus is on safe but fun learning. I also encourage reading and will do any kind of story time a kid requests! Learning to cook and clean are also biggies for me. I love making healthy food (I have a degree in nutrition) and want to get kids on the right path at a young age.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is to listen to kids. They are people like anyone else. I am there to keep them safe and on task but I am also there to help them grow and become who they are. I want to be the influence that doesn't stifle them but allows their ideas to flow. I am responsible and will keep their priorities in order but after the hard work is done, it is time to be a kid! I think I enjoy being a kid to this day so that helps.

My experience with special needs children...

I do not have any so if that is a big requirement for you, please let me know. I am willing to work with special needs kids but at this time I have no experience.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Too many to list! I love conversations with kids above everything else. I feel like so many people tell kids to be small and inconspicuous. I want to listen to them and help them figure out who they are. Those moments where I see kids be their truest self are my favorite and there are too many to recount.
