A little bit about me

I was a CT/MRI technologist for 30+ years. Now retired. I love children! Much experience, excellent references. I adapt to the parent's parenting. The child will always be loved and well cared for. I can be very adaptable to changing schedules. I am only looking for a part time position, 18 an hour or above. I am open to nanny share, which is a really good idea. Stuff happens. If there are two people covering a schedule, you won’t be caught short. I would like to mention that I’ve had 3 Covid vaccinations and 3 boosters. . Please note that I am not able to work fulltime, because I have another family on Fridays. References are all very good.

"Mary has been watching my three-year-old daughter for nearly two years, and I am continually impressed with her professionalism, reliability, and the strong bond she has formed with my child. Mary consistently arrives on time and has shown remarkable flexibility with her schedule, which has been incredibly helpful for our family. Her ability to adapt to our needs, while maintaining a calm and positive attitude, has made her an invaluable support to us. What stands out most is the genuine connection Mary has developed with my daughter. My child looks forward to spending time with her, and I can see the trust and affection that has grown between them. Mary engages with her through play, learning activities, and attentive care, ensuring she feels safe and happy at all times. I wholeheartedly recommend Mary as a babysitter. She is dependable, caring, and a wonderful person to have looking after children."

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Columbus, OH

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Columbus Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Columbus? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Columbus?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in OH? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
