Experienced nanny available Monday to Friday until 5 or 6 pm. Over 20 years of childcare experience, including daycare and private home work. Previous private nanny for two boys under 5 from Jan 2022 to Jul 2023.

My approach blends structured lesson plans with personalized attention at home. I enrich children's lives through diverse activities, fostering fine motor, critical thinking, language, and social-emotional skills.

I am CPR and First Aid Certified and hold a Basic Nanny Skills Certificate from the International Nanny Association. I'm fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

A little bit about me…

Hello,

My name is Ashley. I have babysitting, daycare & nanny experience. I have been taking care of children since I was about 10 years old. When I was younger I babysat for friends/family and then moved on to a daycare for 4 years. Soon, I met my 1st family that I nannied for. Since then I have worked for 6 families over the past 14 years.

Experience: diaper changes, feeding bottles/baby food, naptime, small household chores; vacuuming, laundry, meal prep etc, playing and being active with children, and more. I’ve worked with children of all ages and having worked in a daycare center I am very hands on and I'm used to taking care of multiple kids. I enjoy the outdoors, arts and crafts, watching children learn, grow and more.

Currently looking for a summer position:
-May 1st start date
-3 days a week, flexibility of 4
-20-30 hours, flexibility for more

A little bit about me…

Most recently, I was a caregiver for two boys ages 3 & 10. I was also a part time nanny in college for 3 girls (infant, toddler, & teenager). My CPR & First Aid Cert is no longer active, but it was valid from [phone number hidden]. I have my Bachelors Degree from the University of Penn, and own my own financial practice. I love teaching kids about money and investing! I also have the free time to do it now. My day to day operations are managed by my team, and I have total control over my calendar and meetings. I typically meet with clients in the evening or on weekends. They work normal business hours, so I do my best to accommodate their schedules. This leaves me with a lot of freedom and flexibility during the week. I would love to connect with another family in need of a nanny. Caring for kids is more like a hobby for me. I add value by educating kids through play. Fun, laughter, and learning is guaranteed. If your child doesn’t love me after the first day, you don’t have to pay : )

A little bit about me…

Hi! My name is Jordan Dorsey! I am a sophomore at William Paterson University as a Child Psychology major and take all my classes online. I am 20 years old and have worked with children since a very young age. I started working at the Learning Garden Academy when I was fifteen years old in 2019, a family-owned daycare in Montville, and I have been working full time there since 2020. They were recently placed under new management, and are now known as Childtime of Pinebrook. I have always had a passion for not only working with kids, but learning and growing with them as well. I am a lead teacher in our preschool classroom and enjoy lesson planning, coming up with arts and crafts and science projects, singing songs, and most of all working one on one with my children. I am very attentive and knowledgeable, and I have an extreme amount of patience. I love working one on one with children, building trust and forming bonds with them.

A little bit about me…

I speak English fluently and a little bit of Spanish. I engage in my school activities by being a school cheerleader and being apart of my school’s concert band. I get good grades and I’m currently in Advanced Math honors so I can help them with their homework especially math. I’m responsible, can multitask, cook, clean, change diapers, good with pets and have great time management. I don’t have a license yet but I have a ride anytime!

A little bit about me…

Child philosophy
My experience, and as a mother and grandmother, is to not give in to or reward temper tantrums.  In my experience, I choose to wait it out…. I LISTEN to my children and speak back to them.  In my experience there is often (not always) something else causing them to become so upset.  Tired, hungry, upset about something else.  I just need to listen….  Depending on the age I may try to distract them with one of there toys (we likely already brought with us.)
How are you going to help my baby, who has been with very few strangers, cope with the separation anxiety that may happen?
In the ideal we will have a short transition period, where your baby can become familiar with me with the security of mom/dad nearby.  This would include short periods where mom/dad leave and then return. During these periods your baby will become accustomed to their regular routines, albeit with a different adult.  In my experience babies and young children are so self-focused, when we maintain consistency addressing their needs, they are less anxious.

How we should spend a typical day. I must consider your parenting style.  We should avoid one “parental” direction during the day, and another at night.  Perhaps you want your children outside getting dirty, rain or shine?  Perhaps you encourage structured “screen” time?  (Though most likely a balance of both…)

Learning age appropriate meal preparation.  Younger kids learn to set the table (plastic cups, nothing sharp or as is age appropriate), measuring, mixing… nothing hot.  Older kids can do more.  Always supervised.
I enjoy reading to younger children.  We don’t need to follow the story as written either.  We add sounds and personalities.  Maybe act out some of the scenes?  Wherever their imagination leads us…
I think we should enjoy at least a couple of hours each day outside.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Parsippany-Troy Hills Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Parsippany-Troy Hills? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Parsippany-Troy Hills?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in NJ? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
