A little bit about me

Hi there! My name is Mylee Martinez, I am a college student who is looking to work for a family for a prolonged period of time that is willing to abide by a contract that is agreed upon based on work expectations. I am originally from Denver, CO which is where I began working with/ around grade/middle school-aged children. I practiced martial arts for 8 years and for 4 of those, I was an assistant coach for kids 4-12 years old. From there, I began babysitting for many of the karate families and was able to gain experience with grade school-aged kids. I also was able to gain experience with infants through some of the families which is where I also learned what a ‘mothers helper’ is and began working as a mothers helper and part-time nanny for one family during the summer of COVID that lasted for a year. I am CPR and First-Aid certified and currently taking child development classes to work toward a sociology degree with a minor in child psychology.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a karate coach for the youngest age groups, students ranging from 3 years old to 12 years old.
Since then, I’ve been a nanny for babies ranging in age from 6weeks to 9 years old.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy spending time outside (weather permitting). I enjoy watching each child learn something new through arts and crafts, as well as in Montessori activities such as child involvement with lunches/ snacks and household chores.

The most important part about being a nanny...

As a nanny to young babies/ toddlers, the most essential part of my job is ensuring each child is well nourished and properly nurtured. I believe that both usually go hand in hand and allow the child to thrive when they begin school and are learning how to communicate and interact other children their age.

My experience with special needs children...

I don't have much experience with children that have special needs, but it doesn't mean that I'm not open to learning or even taking specific classes.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite memories takes place when I was working with twins for 6 months. Toward the end of my time with the family, the girl twin had been attempting to walk for over a month and in the last week of my time with them, she began walking. I felt so proud and excited for this new era for her.
