More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Currently, I teach vocal lessons to children ranging in age from six to fifteen. Prior to this, I was a high school English teacher for a little under a year before I decided to pursue different career options. I had 126 students under my care, as well as 9 middle school girls who I coached on a competitive dance team. I chaperoned, taught, and “mommed” them at camps, games, and competitions. During my undergraduate years, I worked as a reading fluency tutor for first grade children. I met with these children twice and week to help them achieve their reading goals. Finally, I have also worked closely with children through programs at my church—such as camps and VBS— for eleven years. There, I acted as a children and youth camp counselor, a baby sitter, children’s church teacher, and VBS worship leader on several occasions.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy doing anything creative when I’m taking care of kiddos! Singing, acting, playing make-believe, reading, writing, arts and crafts—I really just enjoy having fun that’s engaging. Of course, I also enjoy watching movies, and I probably know all of the words to every Disney song.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important part about being a nanny is reinforcing a child’s own autonomy, their respect for themselves and others, and kindness. The best thing you can do for a child, in my opinion, is to teach them to be kind and to think for themselves.
