A little bit about us

I am looking for a caring, patient, and experienced support worker for my 12-year-old daughter, who will be turning 13 in November. She is on the autism spectrum and needs support with developing daily living skills and becoming more independent.

The ideal person should have experience working with children or teenagers with autism and be comfortable teaching and practicing practical life skills rather than simply doing the tasks for her.

Schedule:

Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM–9:00 AM

Help her follow her morning routine
Personal hygiene and getting dressed
Preparing and eating breakfast
Making her bed and organizing her room
Preparing for school
Teaching age-appropriate independence and household responsibilities

Evenings: 7:00 PM–9:30 PM

Preparing simple meals and learning basic cooking
Cleaning the kitchen and other household areas
Laundry and organizing belongings
Practicing personal-care and bedtime routines
Going for walks and participating in appropriate community activities

Weekends: 11:00 AM–5:00 PM

Cooking and meal preparation
Cleaning and other household tasks
Grocery shopping and learning how to shop independently
Going for walks, to the mall, or other community activities
Practicing social, communication, safety, and independent-living skills

The main goal is to help my daughter develop practical life skills, confidence, independence, and the ability to participate more fully in everyday activities.

The person should be reliable, patient, energetic, compassionate, and comfortable working one-on-one with a teenager with autism. Experience with autism, developmental disabilities, life-skills training, or respite support would be preferred.
