Relevant experience where I also cared for children were…I was a babysitter for many years, building a client base in my area of multiple families. I worked with any and every family dynamic. I have also worked with all age groups and children with all different needs.
Activities I enjoy doing with children…Arts and crafts, playing outdoors, reading, and writing (one of my favorite things to do is make up stories and turn them into small books), small, simple science experiments, and more.
The most important part about being a nanny…is my ability to create the right environment for your children. They need a mix of fun, learning, love, and unconditional support. There can't just be one of those categories, I have to strive to meet every one of them, or I'm not doing my job right.
My experience with special needs children…I have worked with multiple children with special needs-- I have worked with children with severe autism, children with ADHD, ADD, dyslexia, separation anxiety, generalized anxiety, kids with severe allergies, and physical disabilities such as a wheelchair, chronic illnesses and pain.
My favorite nanny moment…My favorite nanny moment was when I had been working with two kids for the better part of a year, and their family was moving to Germany, away from their close friends and family during the pandemic. As a going-away present, I made them coloring books of all the pictures we had drawn together in the last few months. Watching their joy over that small thing in a time that was otherwise a bit sad and confusing to them was one of the best moments in all my years of child care.
