A little bit about me

Hi, I am 22 years old and I have been professionally working with children for 5 years. I am experienced and qualified to work with ages 0- 12. I’m interested in date nights/evenings or weekends! I am currently a nanny to 2 toddlers(B, 16mo and G, 15mo). I was previously a lead preschool teacher, but I’ve been a lead in each classroom! While in high-school I was a nanny/babysitter for 3 years. I have worked at a few centers/preschools with all ages. I have my 90 clock-hour preschool childcare certification as well as my 45 hour infant-toddler certification and I am child and baby first aid/cpr/aed certified. I’d love to share my resume with you and chat more!

"We feel so lucky to have found Nasha! She was the nanny for my infant son from February to June 2022 when he was between 5 and 9 months old. She was always on time and often a few minutes early. When I would sometimes run late getting home from work, she was willing to stay later than scheduled. Most importantly, though, was her caring and nurturing attitude toward my son. Every morning when she walked through the door, he was so happy to see her. She did as I asked—playing with him, taking him on walks, reading to him, sending us pictures of him, feeding him milk and solids, changing diapers, and putting him down for naps and recording his nap times. She also took initiative to do things I didn’t think to ask, like bathing him after blowouts, creating a sensory bowl, and playing calming music before naps. If he ever had a difficult time falling asleep, she always maintained a calm demeanor. She is a very friendly and relaxed person, and she was very dependable. We will miss her!"

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Baltimore, MD

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Baltimore Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Baltimore? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Baltimore?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in MD? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
