A little bit about us
My daughter is a 13 year old girl with a sunny disposition & silly sense of humor. She also has Rett Syndrome. She needs assistance with many activities of daily living. Although she does not speak and uses a wheelchair for transportation she understands and communicates quite well once you get to know her. She needs help with things like bathing, dressing, eating with a utensil. If she is eating "finger foods" she requires total supervision. She needs assistance with grooming and does wear undergarments as she is incontinent.
She loves all things Disney! Has an eye for a handsome fella and is a bit of a flirt. She is also a jokester and laughs often and lots. I need for her not only a caregiver but a companion, friend and keeper of secrets.
She is very social and loves to be outside...parks, swimming, walks, shopping, movies. All the typical stuff!
I'm a single working Mom. I often work from home or I'm out in the field several times a week. I'm looking for someone to become park of our family. Light housekeeping, occasional meals, drive to appointments or therapies.
Must love dogs. We have a two year old lab that is a rambunctious, love and wants to be in the center of all things!
No special training or certification required. We've had several people on our team over the years and I'm always amazed at how my daughter teaches everyone around her how she communicates or what she needs, including me!
What is required is patience, warmth and kindness. Must be fun-loving and easy going.
If you have interest, I'd love to talk with you. Will consider live in or live out. I currently have a separate studio apartment above my garage available that is for rent. Would work something out for right person IF looking for live in.
Thank you!
