More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Preschool and Kindergarten teacher, Private Educator, Christian Ed, Americorps
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
My favorite indoor/outdoor activities include creating playscapes for small children to enjoy; creating items from recycled materials; cataloging finds from nature explorations; exploring new sensory: grass underfoot, new fruits, etc.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is the focus on childhood. I often quote Maria Montessori who said that the most important years aren’t the ones spent in university, but the formative, early years from birth to age 5. There is tremendous potential for wonder and genius in each child, and I believe it is activated when given the appropriate attention.
My experience with special needs children...
I have cared for children diagnosed with ASD and ADHD.

My favorite nanny moments*
Watching MA (a Covid-era baby) explore the great outdoors on his first spring day. During the winter, I made a practice of bringing elements indoors for him to explore, but it was such a joy to watch him really explore the world outside his home for the first time.
Taking MG, a high energy toddler, outside for his first “free run” unharnessed, at 2 years old. I could hardly keep up!
Leading EC (7) and JC (5) on a nature walk to harvest the mulberries, as southern transplants who’d never seen or heard of the fruit. Being from Pittsburg, they’d never picked fruit from trees and eaten it before!)
Taking JJ, TK, and TJ, foraging for pecans to collect for Thanksgiving pies!
Learning (and being able to share with his parents) that NM, an ASD-3, non verbal 13 y-o can communicate (and had been communicating!) through limited ASL. This cut down on his large emotions and undesired behaviors as lines of communication began to open between himself and his family.
