I am comfortable and have experience working alongside parents who are regularly around, but also independently with children. My experience working with and caring for children spans from those in public schools, to private schools, to special needs children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

A little bit about me…

Hi! I’m a loving and committed Filipina nanny. I am here to help you in taking good care of your children. I was an au pair for 2 years and 6 months. I took care of multiple children including a child with Angelman’s syndrome. I tutored them and helped them with their homework. I am also a licensed teacher in the Philippines, and I graduated with a Special Education degree. I love to play with kids, read them storybooks, teach them in their lessons, and go outside like playing in the park, swimming, or walking. Not only that I have experience in taking care of multiple, older kids but also, I have experience in taking care of a 7-month-old baby until her toddler years. I am responsible with a high sense of situational awareness, dedicated, and loving around children. I am the eldest and have two younger siblings. Taking care of children is something that I am passionate about ever since I got here in the US.

The Wadsworth Family - Hiring in San Francisco

San Francisco, CA

A little bit about us…

We're a growing family in the Outer Sunset with an 11-year-old boy who's with us half the time and a baby on the way.

We're getting an early start interviewing for a nanny to help us out once our baby's born around Jan. 10.

I'll have a 20-week leave from work, but this is my first child and my partner travels a lot for work, so we could use help from someone who can work with a first-time mom as well as providing an occasional ride for an 11-year-old boy to get to things like football practice if his dad's out of town or otherwise unavailable.

We're thinking a part-time nanny would suffice, but we might not know until the baby's here what days / times work best.

It would be great to start meeting people sooner, rather than later, though, just to see if they can ease into the role / acquaint themselves with our family by helping out with our 11-year-old's transportation needs.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in San Francisco, CA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

San Francisco Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in San Francisco? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in San Francisco?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in CA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
