I absolutely adore children and cannot wait to start my own family. I’ve babysat children from 3 days old to 11 years old and my experience with them is always life changing and a great learning experience. When I babysit I do like to clean up around the house and enjoy time bonding with the kids! I hope to hear from you!

Last semester I was a full time student at Shasta College. I am a 23 year old mom to an amazing 2 year old boy. I grew up with two younger siblings 9+ years younger than me so I got lots of practice young. I babysat all through high school and middle school. I have also volunteered for special needs organizations in the county. Would love to bring my son along if possible!

I recently just arrived back in California after being an au pair in Zurich, Switzerland. My experience in Switzerland was wonderful. I watched the children daily from 4pm-9pm, and as they were 8 and 11 years old they did not need much minding. However, I was there more to speak to them in English than to "watch them." When they came home from school I prepared a healthy snack, talked with them about their day, and then helped them with their homework. We then went outside and played soccer, threw a frisbee around, or played hide and seek around the neighborhood. I tried to keep a very active, healthy lifestyle with them.. I think I only watched a movie with them only twice the entire summer. We loved being active! Whenever the parents were gone, as they had meetings and outings, I watched them as well in the night or weekends. We usually prepared dinner together (which was very fun to prepare Swiss food and American food) ate dinner together, and then made a dessert and just talked and laughed in English. We then read, listened to music, and then went to bed. I never had any problems with discipling them when they needed it, which was very nice. They were children and did need it sometimes!

I have watched over kids for as long as I can remember, since I have a niece and nephew who have been living with me since birth. I love arts and crafts, activities that get the mind going. I love being outside. I have experience with infants, toddlers, and middle age children and would love to help a lovely family out!

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Redding, CA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Redding Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Redding? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Redding?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in CA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
