The Kaluderovic Family - Hiring in Houston
The Kaluderovic Family
Greenway/Upper Kirby, Houston$15/hr  |  2 kids
Hi! My name is Clara. I have two little boys aged 2 and 4. I'm looking for a nanny during the week and occasionally some hours on the weekends. Or for those in school with specific times they can't watch please let me know and we may be able to work around. Duties include just hanging out with the boys- playing, outside play, parks, arts and crafts (i'll provide), a few curricular activities (I'll provide) etc. We have passes to all the museums so the 3 of you are welcome to go do little field trips like that.

No house duties are required just putting away whatever was done with the kids in your time together.
I'll do my best to prep their daily meals/snacks. Occasionally I may ask you to cook them pasta or something small if I didn't get to it.

I am a startup founder so sometimes my hours can get a little hectic. I would love someone who can be with us for a long term basis and is able/willing to take on sitting times that may arise outside of normal preset hours. Not often, but in case there is a business dinner 5:30pm-8:00pm or something like that I want to be as transparent upfront as possible.

Since this is preferably for a long term position I will give raises/bonuses the longer you are with us. Holidays will be paid. If you are with me towards the year mark I will likely add health insurance if you need it. I really do my best to work with you and your family to make sure we are all happy.

Occasionally if you are interested there will opportunity for oversea travel with us. Your expenses would be fully paid (air, hotel, food) and you would receive whatever salary is set at that time for the weekly basis

If we work well on a longterm basis I am happy to retain you and keep you on board as an executive assistant or in another role once the boys are in elementary. I love relationship building and someone that really takes the time to get to know us/anticipate our needs.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Houston, TX

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Houston Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Houston? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Houston?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in TX? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
