A little bit about me…

I recently relocated to Seattle April 2023 and am a play-based preschool teacher and interim assistant director during the day. Born and raised on Long Island, New York, I began my teaching journey as a Pre-K Teacher & Administrator. I received my A.A. in Childhood Education in 2021 with original plans of becoming an elementary school teacher. I began my childhood care journey as a babysitter over ten years ago and ventured off into nannying about seven years ago, which has been my favorite part of it all! I continuously strive to and pride myself on being hardworking, responsible, dedicated, caring, and creative.
I love to bake, create, do yoga, travel, plan, and explore, in my spare time. I have also begun dabbling in cooking with a New Year's goal of making one homemade recipe a day.
In my work, I love to come prepared with activities, lessons, and adventures and dedicate my time to ensuring everything is age-appropriate, interactive, and entertaining.

A little bit about me…

Hello! My name is Jenn.
I am a an artistic, nerdy nanny. I have worked with children for over 10 years, I love being outside, creating art, cooking, spending time with my little family and music.
I have worked with infants including premature infants. During my early 20s I worked as a prechool teacher, infant and toddler teacher for Jewish Community center. I worked as an English/art teacher in special education for a brief time. I work well with physical therapist to help keep kiddos on track with their development. The last years I have worked specifically with infants to aid mom and help with their development.
I am interested in a nanny share. The rate would be 40 an hr, 20 dollars per parent.

"We can’t say enough wonderful things about Jenn. She is a real life Mary Poppins and perhaps better. She arrived everyday to watch our children with an energy, optimism, and joy that was infectious. She treated our 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son with care and patience, taking time to understand them as individuals. She pre-planned interesting crafts and activities to keep them engaged and pro-actively arranged afternoon play dates with their friends to take them to. As an employer, the relationship with Jenn was excellent and communicative. She pro-actively sought feedback and received feedback well. As an educator and nanny for previous families, Jenn taught us valuable skills and tips on managing difficult situations with our children. She helped potty train our youngest, a testament to her patience and determination. Any family would be lucky to have Jenn taking care of their children. Childcare is a critical role - we’re fortunate Jenn had this role for our family."

"Jaeonna was a godsend for our family. She is highly dependable, is great with kids, and best of all, has a heart of GOLD! After all this time, we still can't believe our luck with her after a number of prior disappointing nanny arrangements. Despite being with us for so long, our kids still run to meet her at the door whenever she shows up every morning. Our biggest regret with Jaeonna is that we have to move out of town and unfortunately will no longer be as physically close to her. One thing we are confident about is that whatever new family Jaeonna takes care of will be an incredibly lucky one."

A little bit about me…

I am a retired Waldorf early childhood teacher, a true Mary Poppins. I offer nature-based play, organic whole foods, and screen-free care. Singing, art and walks to the park with me provide exactly the grounding and peaceful pace that will help your children thrive, even in our busy city and these crazy times. I am a long time yogini and grandmother devoted to cultivating health and creative imagination for our children. I worked with master Teachers in a charter Waldorf school for several years and then I had my own beautiful preschool on five rural acres. Recently, I spent four years with a family including three children who had been neglected and abused and saw them heal with these Waldorf principles. Most children are under unprecedented stress and by creating a haven where they can grow into wholeness from birth to seven, they are better equipped to face the pressures of the world when they grow older. I am flexible in many ways so please inquire to see if we are a fit.

A little bit about us…

Hello,

We are expecting our first baby in Sep. 2024! We are not finding out the gender, and keeping it a surprise. This is our first child, and we are extremely excited. I work as an Occupational Therapist, and my husband works in marketing/advertising. We are planning ahead for childcare, and hoping to find a nanny to start in February/March 2025 when we both go back to work for 25-34 hrs a week. Baby will be around 6 months old upon the start date. Our ideal nanny will have their own vehicle and be able to watch baby at our home, but also bring them to the park or play groups out into the community. Other duties will include light house keeping (dishes, cooking, laundry, and vacuuming), and taking our dog out for potty breaks. We have a small yard for our 5 yr old Border Collie mix who loves people, going on walks, playing fetch, swimming and cuddling. Looking forward to connecting and having you join and support our growing family!

A little bit about us…

We have two wonderful kids, age 3 and 1.5. Looking for someone to take care of them in the afternoon, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday afternoons while I attend grad school classes. Your day would start by getting the kids lunch, then the little one will go down for a nap. Play with the 3 yo until the little one wakes up, then snacktime and a stroll to the park if you like. I should be home to relieve you before dinner. We also have a dog and cat. There may bonus for taking the dog to the park with you if you want.

How to Hire a Nanny in Seattle, WA

Nanny Lane is an easy-to-use website that helps families find experienced local nannies in Seattle. Simplify your nanny search and find your perfect nanny today. Our services include background checks, nanny contracts, and nanny payroll.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Seattle, WA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Seattle Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Seattle? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Seattle?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in WA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
