Stanwood, WA
3 kids
A little bit about us…
I have 3 boys, a 3.5 yo and 15 mo twins.

I am a summer camp director and live and work onsite. My typical work hours are 8-4 during the school year and vary during the summer. I have an alternating weeklysummer schedule- some weeks I work 7:00-3:00 and some I work 1:00-9:00pm . I’m looking for a nanny that can integrate into our home but also fit into the summer camp culture. I would prefer a weekly salary over a hourly if that is possible. I can provide a place to live and some food for the right fit! I can provide cpr training and other trainings as relevant to working with school age children if you are interested.

When working with my children, I need someone patient, kind, and creative. My 3.5 yo is headstrong and intelligent; and he sometimes uses that combination of gifts to be manipulative. He also is very comfortable on our large camp site, so he has been known to leave caregivers to find me. He never intentionally runs away, he just gets “a good idea” as he calls them.

My kids are fun, and my home should be fairly easy to be in. During the mornings I would want our nanny to take the kids outside and engage with them with minimal screen time. During nap time for the twins, the older boy can use his tablet or watch tv as quiet time. As time permits I would appreciate if the nanny would pick up toys or do dishes, no major cleaning though. My husband works nights so will be in the home sleeping, but he sleeps heavily and shouldn’t be bothered by kids playing.

I think that’s most of it. I look forward to connecting!

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Stanwood, WA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Stanwood Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Stanwood? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Stanwood?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in WA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
