A little bit about me…
I gained my first real experience working with children & their families while I was teaching ballet to school age children. From my time as a dance teacher I became a preschool teacher at the Mcchord AFB child development center & was given a full FBI clearance there. I really learned a lot about lesson planning, curriculum that is developmentally appropriate & challenging in a healthy way. I moved on to become a nanny after 4 years at the child development center. The first family I cared for was a family of 4 children ages 3-16yrs. This was a live in full time position. I got the children off to school in the mornings, cared for the 3yrold during the day, with outings, classes, crafts & potty training. I not only cared for the children but also became sort of a personal assistant/home manager. Everyday was different, which I welcomed. During the day while the children were in school I would plan activities, schedule play dates, cook, meal prep, groceries, errands, laundry, tidy the house & pretty much whatever would help out most that particular day. I stayed with this family for a lilttle over a year. my next family was a family of 2 boys ages 1-3. I was hired on as a live in fulltime nanny while mom was on bed rest expecting their 3rd child. Through this experience I helped out not only caring for the children but also helping out mom with anything I could be helpful with. When the baby was born I began caring for her immediately & became very comfortable with infants & newborns. I feel like I really have a natural knack for knowing what they need & providing that for them. While the baby grew I had her monitor in my room across from the nursery at night time & we would take turns taking night shift:) I stayed with this family for nearly 3 years. After my last live in position I became a part time live out nanny in seattle. I worked for 2 families who lived on the same street. It was sort of a nanny share between theire families. The first family had 2 children ages 2-4 & 1 on the way. The second family had 2 children ages 2-5. With these families I would have play dates with the children but also have days designated for special time just with those children on their own. I continued in this position for a little over a year until I found the perfect full time family. I began this full time live out position for a family of 1 child age 2. During my time with this family I not only cared for their child but also cared for their home & tried to make the household run smoothly by running errands, getting groceries, planning meals, cleaning & potty training. I worked with this family for 1 year & at the time decided not to renew my contract. I have been since then working on a childrens clothing line. My love of dance, children & fashion has come complete circle in this venture but it isn't exactly financially cutting it:) so, I am currently looking for the perfect family to assist with my certain set of helpful skills.

Nanny Jennifer
"She was able to help me get adjusted to parent life. She assisted me when my daughter was first born. She was really great with working with my newborn and helping around the home. The only reason why her time with me was so short, was because she was in the process of moving to Seattle. While she was in Texas, we enjoyed having her with our household."

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Everson, WA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Everson Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Everson? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Everson?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in WA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
