Hello! My name is Allison and I am a SAHM looking to nanny another little one with my little guy. I have nannied before and also worked for 3 years at a daycare with children ages 3 months-6 years. I have a lot of experience watching children and really love doing it. I am hoping to find a family that is excited about their little being out of doors as much as possible, going on adventures to the Zoo (I have a membership) and parks etc. My son and I love being out of the house as much as possible, weather permitting. When we are stuck indoors we have fun making forts, playing hide and seek and reading loads of books. I have most recently been working with a really sweet little one who had some special needs and loved doing it. Unfortunately, due to their health struggles, we were unable to ever really leave the house, which didn't work out so well for my kiddo. I work hard to ensure that both kiddos are always learning and exploring, while having fun doing so. Thanks for looking!

When I was 12 I took a babysitters class at the local hospital. Then I was allowed to babysit my 2 younger brothers and mother's friend's kids. One family had 3 kids and I travelled with them. I continued babysitting through high school and college. For 2 years I worked as a preschool teacher before I was recruited as a full-time permanent nanny for two families 4 days a week 10 hours a day, 4 kids total ages ranging from infant to 12 years old. After I had my son, I found a family with a daughter the same age and who wanted to have a playmate for her. We've had an agreement for 2 years now.

I am currently a motivated college student working towards my bachelor of science degree in Special Education at Lee University, with a long-term goal of graduating with a Masters degree to become an early childhood Speech-Language Pathologist. I am also a childcare teacher at the Lee University Early Learning Center, gaining experience over the last fifteen months, specifically with infants and toddlers. I have worked in positions of leadership over children of all ages for eight years, being involved in children's church ministries, summer camp counseling positions, tutoring, and numerous babysitting opportunities. I observe at Boyer Children's Clinic in Seattle, WA, providing hands-on experience with special needs children. I am fully certified in CPR and First Aid. I am a fun, passionate, very loving, very responsible, self-motivated, joyous person with lots of experience in childcare. Helping kids grow in their knowledge and experiences is what I do best. I love using my gifts and putting forth my best effort to see children reach their fullest potential!

Worked with a family with twin girls and one boy 13 months younger then the twins. I was with them for 2 1/2 years until they relocated. I currently care for a 16-month-old (and bring my 20-month-old daughter) with one family and another family with a 9-yr-old autistic child and a 12-yr-old. I am looking to find a replacement for one of the families.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Edmonds, WA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Edmonds Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Edmonds? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Edmonds?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in WA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
