Nanny Shares in Olympia, WA

The Domme Family
Olympia$14/hr  |  3 kids
Hello! We are seeking childcare for our three kids, in our home, starting April 26th. Start date may be flexible for the right candidate. Stay at home moms with one or two kids are encouraged to apply! We are also potentially open to a nanny share. We need care through the end of this school year, with the possibility of continuing on. Hours will be 6am to 3:30pm, Monday-Thursday. Pay will be $140 per day.

Okay! So a little bit about our family. Mom is a teacher and dad is an electrician. We need someone who is reliable, on time, and dependable. Kiddos are 5 years old, 3 years old, and 17 months old. Favorite activities include playing outside, craft projects, reading, dance parties, building with lego or magnatiles, and dress up. Our kids are active, creative, and adventurous and we need someone who can keep up with them and have fun. J is 5, loves drawing and art projects. A is 3 and loves animals and playing outside. F is 15 months and loves music and climbing everything.

The position will include preparing breakfast and lunch, basic clean up, and helping the kids to clean up as they go.

Our house is located on the west side of Olympia. We have a wonderful yard perfect for running around and exploring and a spacious house set up for play. We do have a cat, in case of allergies. Non smokers only please.

We are following COVID precautions, but dad will be working around others and mom will be teaching in person. We completely understand that this does lead to a lot of potential exposure. We will of course continue to be cautious, but we also want to make sure that our future childcare provider feels comfortable with this level of risk.

Thank you for reading and I look forward to hearing from you!

Megan is so wonderful with my children. She is patient and gentle and fun. She has watched my children as infants and my older elementary children. She has engaged my son with down syndrome and helped with his behavioral needs as well. She is an incredible young lady whom I would have watch my children any day. - Jen

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Olympia, WA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Olympia Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Olympia? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Olympia?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in WA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
