The He Family - Hiring in Renton
The He Family
Renton$18/hr  |  1 kid
We are looking for a nanny/sitter probably 3 days per week: weekdays. 3-6 or 6:30 PM, beginning June 28th. We're in Renton, off exit 7 of 405.
I work starting at 3:30 PM every weekday. My husband's schedule is not yet set-- he just got a new job, and his schedule may change from week to week.
This is a very easy gig: to play with and take care of our precious little lady for a few hours, while my husband's and my work schedule overlap. She will even sleep for 1 to 2 of those hours. :)
About AiLin:
*23 months old, but very advanced for her age. She loves learning! She already can count to 10 in Chinese and 20 in English, speak short sentences, and even read a few words. My husband is from Shanghai, so we're raising our daughter to be bilingual (with Mandarin).
*She is an extremely intelligent, funny, affectionate, and appreciative child. She can ask you, politely, for what she needs.
*We have a clean home full of fun things for her to do: puzzles, marble run, instruments, and washable crayons for drawing on the walls! We try to keep her away from screens and other passive activities.
What we're looking for:
*If you can speak to her and write in English and Chinese, that would be wonderful.
*If you have experience potty training, that's a plus, but certainly not required.
*You could take her to a playground (she adores the slide) or go for a walk in the woods, or just stay comfortably indoors/on the patio.
*We hope you would enjoy reading her books, singing songs, teaching rhymes, drawing silly pictures, etc.
*If you could encourage her to clean up after herself and to put away her own toys, that would be great: she loves to learn and to be helpful. You would not have to do any cleaning or cooking.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Renton, WA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Renton Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Renton? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Renton?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in WA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
