The Jones Family - Hiring in Snohomish
The Jones Family
Snohomish$14/hr  |  3 kids
I am a stay at home mom. My husband works in IT remotely, from his home office. I have 3 children--Colin who is 9 and just started the 4th grade at Little Cedars, Rhys who is 5 and in pre k at Kids at the Creek and The feral one, the youngest, Coraline...she is 2 and she is definitely a handful, I won't lie...she gets into everything---she and I are currently home together and I'm desperately trying to find her a playgroup or toddler circle of some sort to get some energy out. She loves being social, being around other kids. Maybe I'll put her in forest school when she learns the potty who knows? Bottom line is I have to find a way to keep her butt busy because she's just nonstop into everything and she's exhausting. Colin has football 4 nights a week from 5:30 to 7:30 and regularly scheduled bi weekly therapy sessions on Fridays. Other then those set scheduled activities---our lives are pretty go with the flow and chill. My mother in law is currently staying with us from London but will be flying back in December and I will need help starting then. Just with getting the kids to school, laundry, dinner, every day tasks like dr appointments and stuff---we have a cleaner come in biweekly so that wouldn't be part of it, really. Maybe just light picking up after the kids that I'll do after they're done playing but nothing extreme. We would prefer a live in nanny as we have a spare bedroom for you. You'd have your own bedroom and bathroom. We are a very down to earth, loving, family. My husband is British and has been in this country for about 6 years now so we are an immigrant family. He is a citizen now, though so yay. But we are a blended, unique and caring bunch and would love to have you be a part of it so come over and meet us...just, please make sure to be vaccinated or wear a mask 😄😊😷😛😁😉

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Snohomish, WA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Snohomish Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Snohomish? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Snohomish?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in WA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
