Hi everyone!! I am a 22-year old college student at Bellevue College. I'm working on finishing up my BS in Psychology. When I was younger all I wanted was a younger sister. I would ask my mom and make my younger cousins or friends pretend to be my sister in games but I was set on the real thing. Finally, my sister was born when I was 8. I worked a lot with my grandma and younger cousins so by the time my sisrer was born I felt ready to take care of her. I wish my current self could've warned my 8 year old self that having a younger sibling wasn't all cute dresses and ribbon. Having a younger sister is getting your favorite books ripped to shreds, no longer being able to eat animal crackers because "they're for the baby" and angrily changing the channel from Arthur to Dora. Havihg a younger sister is playing the same game another time and having to explain laughing so hard your sides hurt and tears are running down your face because you finally successfully pranked Mom. so I've gotten to see her grow for her whole life. I have taught Sunday School, worked in a couple different nursery settings and of course babysat for friends, neighbors and family members. I love children of all ages, and I am excited to find a family to work with!

Working with children is something that comes very naturally too me. As one of 4 girls there was no storage of “mothering” when I was young. My two older sisters have been nannies for more than 10 years. It was from them that I became interested in babysitting. Over the past six years I have worked for five different families with children ranging from newborn to 11 years. I have also obtained my degree in Early Childhood Education and Development. This has allowed me to experience and learn about every aspect of childcare. Having so many different experiences with children has allowed me to learn how to manage multiple children while staying organized and providing a positive learning environment. Also from experience with my youngest sister who is 11 years younger than me. I learned to care for and nurture children from birth. Looking for more than a job becoming a nanny was a very natural transition for me. I am excited with the possibility of becoming part of a special family. Not only providing the best care possible – but being there for the everyday amazing moments as they learn and grow – discovering all the great thing around them.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Redmond, WA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Redmond Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Redmond? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Redmond?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in WA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
