I have loved working with children in all past babysitting and nannying experiences. It was a great feeling to be a part of helping a child grow and develop, being another stable figure in their lives. I have worked closely with a few families throughout my life, developed lasting bonds and am still apart of their lives.

I have had the responsibility of taking care of many children between ages 0-8 years old. I started to babysit at the age of 13. Through out the years I would care for my neighbors children, family friends, and relatives. I have always loved children and enjoyed any babysitting job I was entrusted with. So, I was very excited when I was offered a full-time nanny position about a year ago. I took care of my aunts children at ages 3 (girl) and 7 (boy) while she worked Monday through Friday. Every day I would drop off and pick up the 7 year old from school and I would stay home with the 3 year old. I was expected to stick to a strict schedule and diet for both of the children but I was in charge of play dates, arts and crafts, helping with school work, and inside/outside activities. I was also responsible for house upkeep and errands. After both of the children were in school I realized that I still wanted to continue this pathway. I wanted my career to be about children and for children. Therefore, I am hoping to get soon get into the nursing program at SPSCC where I am currently attending to receive my AA degree. I am working towards becoming a pediatric nurse. I have gone through a few CPR and First Aid training classes and received my certification in both. I have also taken a few classes at South Puget Sound Community College that were revolved around parenting and childcare such as Personal Development, and Childcare and Development.

I had wanted to babysit for years when I got my first job at age 12. I have been Red Cross-certified for all eight of those years, and I have cared for children as young as 2 months, including a family of five whose ages ranged from infant to 8-years-old. I have worked for more than a dozen families, and in high school I took on a nanny position which had me at the family's house 9 to 10 hours a day with two children, ages 2 and 4. I only stopped working for the families employing me when I moved away to attend college, to study Elementary Education. In addition to in-home child care, I taught Sunday School classes to pre-schoolers and first-graders for two years, as well as participated in the Junior Achievement program as part of my university's Elementary Education program. Though this is no longer my major, children remain my passion. My most recent experience was during the summer months of 2008, caring for a 10-year-old and her 13-year-old brother; this included providing meals, organizing and transporting children to and from summer activities, and tutoring to prepare for the school year.

I was a nanny for two different families, for an accumulation of two years. One child was an infant girl, and the other child was a toddler boy. Before then I worked at a daycare center for about two years. There I worked with all ages [6 weeks to 12 years old] but mainly with the kindergarten and school age kids. Also, I was the tutor at the center, tutoring children ages 3 to 5 in math, reading, phonics, and music. I have been working with kids since I was 13 years old, including; an at home care, babysitting, participating in a community service class helping local grade school students during class, and I was a "BIG" with big brothers big sisters. I have worked with [including babysat] children as young as a few weeks old.
