A little bit about me

I am a first time mom with a background working with children with special needs, adults with mental health problems, and briefly with teen moms and their babies. I truly enjoy being around children and seeing them experience new things as they grow. I love being crafty, creative, and going outdoors (no bad weather, only bad clothes- right?- obviously not including actually unsafe weather/storms) and would love to help out a fellow family while being able to have my daughter with me as well (she will be 1 in April). I am happy to be flexible regarding days, times, and frequency.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have cared for children since I was a child! Starting with infant and toddler nursery rooms as a teen, babysitting, having a 10 year age gap with my siblings, being a nanny over the summer in college, and even working in settings where children regularly go such as a painting pottery studio. My most recent job has been working with children with special needs as I have a degree in Special Education and ABA

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love spending time outside and being active. Having an infant has slowed some of that down but we still enjoy time at Lewis ginter, the VMFA, farmers markets, parks, etc! I also love a good craft and a cheap activity that works on developmental milestones while being fun!

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me the most important part of being a nanny is being someone who is kind, respectful, helpful, and trustworthy. Genuine enjoyment of children and helping them grow is a must and respect for family wishes is imperative. I have always been a helper (hello enneagram 2) and feel I can bring the aforementioned qualities to the table!

My experience with special needs children...

I have a masters degree in special education and am a board certified behavior analyst. The majority of my time in ABA has been with younger children (ages 18mo-6 years old) however I also worked in a private day school setting with children from 6yo to 21yo.
