Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I worked at a daycare for 8 months before finding a wonderful family to nanny for. I’ve had the pleasure of working for them the past three years and watching their son grow and become an older brother to the sweetest little girl. I also babysit any available chance I can, and volunteer with a Christian non-profit called Young Life Wyldlife, where we aim to spread the gospel to middle school-aged students on the Southside of San Antonio.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Truly the children. A nanny is absolutely one of the child’s first non-familial role models. Everything a nanny does should be for the good of the child emotionally, behaviorally, physically, and mentally.
My experience with special needs children...
Aside from a cousin I grew up with, I unfortunately don’t have much experience with special needs children. There were undiagnosed children I worked with at daycare (who were moved soon after being diagnosed). I am completely open to learning more about the entire spectrum of special needs children, though.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Nannying the same boy for the past three years has given me too many memorable moments to write in a single box… The first time he said my name, The hundreds of times we traded ‘I love yous’ before naptime, the frantic running around the yard to put out imaginary fires with pool noodles, the dozens of times I looked at a three-year-old in amazement and wondered what happened to the four-month-old I started with, and the day I got to see him become the best big brother ever are all memories I won’t soon forget.
