A little bit about me

I love the conversations I get to have with the kids I nanny for, and their contagious, joyful energy is something I feel lucky to get to be a part of. No other job I've had has made me laugh as much, and at the end of the day, I get to walk away with so many funny quotes and stories. It is a gift and a wonderful challenge to be so involved in the every day life of a family, and that motivates me to bring my best self (and food-I can cook!) to the table.
I am very interested in (early) childhood development, especially while working in this pandemic and noticing the changes of behavior in children during this time. I am particularly intrigued by how kids are affected by tech in their daily lives after the last year inside and am invested in helping children form healthy boundaries around screens.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have volunteered in after school programs, worked as a camp counselor, and been babysitting consistently since I was 14.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love going to the park, and packing picnics. Indoor activities fall into the categories of crafting, cooking, dancing, and tv. I like to make the everyday grind just a bit more fun for everyone.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being a positive presence while the parents are not around. So many kids have very few interactions with other adults and being someone who makes time for them and shows care and boundaries is so important.

My experience with special needs children...

I have been a caregiver for a woman with special needs, but not for a child. Although I do not have this experience with children specifically, I know the importance of patience, compassion, and humor.
