Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I treat all adults as well as children, and especially children as if they were my own. In the hospital, I've worked in the Pediatric units. Kids are kids everywhere. Some are confident, some not. I like to visually check a child out and see how they interact with their family, mother, dad, siblings. There's no such thing as a "bad" child. Some just need extra hugs, direction or to find what interests them. I like to hear from a child what they think, what they like to do. Can't promise that they will get what ever they want, but I hope they enjoy the time that I am with them, and they with me.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Depends on their age. Whether its taking a walk, swimming, if possible. Occasional trip to the Dairy Queen, if allowed. I try to keep any treats healthy and non allergic. I enjoy when the kids are able to tell me what they like to do for activities. If unable, I can usually think of different age appropriate activities.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Trust goes both ways. I don't mind if people have cameras in their homes. I get it. Not everybody is as fortunate as I was when I have family help me raise my kids. I don't act any different on camera as well as off.
My experience with special needs children...
Have taken care of kids with special needs in the hospital and at home, but it has been awhile. Able to care for a feeding tube. I choose not to care with kids with trachs - too much can go wrong quickly and have not found an employer that will always back my decisions in care, even following the set protocols.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Its always a good day, when you see that the kids you're caring for are comfortable with me, trust me and know that no matter what they do, I will be there for them.
