Hi Family,
My name is Jenifer(Ms. Jeni). I am an older women, but young at heart. I have been married for 33 years and have 2 grown boys. I have over 20 years of child care experience. I am seeking a part-time or full-time nanny position or even a the occasional position.
I have been on Care.com since 2011 and have enjoyed working with many families and being part of their family. I have worked with newborns to children up to 12 years of age. I have worked at a church as a child care worker, a Pre-school Teacher Assistant at a private daycare and a Noon Duty Supervisor at a local school. I am reliable, a good communicator, hard worker. I follow specific instructions on how you do a routine for you child. I will respect you, children, pets and your home.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have always taken care children ever since I was little girl, helping my mom in Sunday school class, she was a Sunday school teacher, and I always went to help her out. Babysat my neighbors since I was 12 years old. I have 2 of my own children (2 boys) but they are all grown. I have worked in a local Pre-school when my boys were in the same place, Once my boys went to elementary/junior high combo, I was Noon Duty Supervisor. I helped with lunch duty person on the lunch tables and playground. Once my children were older I became a member of Care.com. I have been a member of Care.com since 2011. I started my nanny career on that website working for my first family for 3 years, and then picked up families from the website and from word of mouth. I have usually stayed with the families until the children are in full-time day care or if the family moves away, 2 to 3 years for each family. My last family I worked for found me on Next Door app and I was there for 3 years.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

When the children are small and just newborn, I love just holding babies in my arms and rocking them. They need that extra love, to fall asleep or just to have comfort that someone, besides their mother love. As the children get older I enjoy tummy time and walks around the neighborhood, reading books to them, going to the park and have them watch the other children play. Once they are able to sit up a bit taking them to the park and going on the swings and singing ABC song, going to the library for story time. Then as the children get older and more active, I like to take them to the Discovery Cube and see the dinosaurs, the fishes, have them play in the play area and just explore the whole area. Then have a snack at the snack area, juice, crackers. I like to paint, color, play with their toys. I like to engage with the children with any activities they have at home.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being able to stay with a family and watching that little tiny person grow up to walk, talk and play with other children, see how they miss you when you aren't around, because you were on a vacation. Getting hugs and "I love Ms. Jeni" when they see you. See them play at pre-school, see their expression when you go to the Discovery Cube and see the Dinosaurs exhibit, buying them a book about dinosaurs and they read that book all the time. How they grown to be able to eat with a fork or a spoon, Being able to be with a family where I can be apart of their growing milestones. Knowing that the children trust you like a second mother, and the mother trust you too.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with 1 special needs child. I watch him while his Grandma went to watch The Ellen Show. It was a all day care. I met the little boy after his bus dropped at his home and we played games, watched tv and I got him ready for bed. I visited his Grandma the day before to give me instructions on what to do and what to expect.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are so many moments that are my favorite.
When I walk in the front door and a little 15-month-old runs to me giving me a big hug. when a little boy gets excited seeing dinosaurs, a fish exhibit. When they are sad and crying and the children know that I will hug them and comfort them. Having a conversation with a 3 year old, and she is telling me all about her day a daycare, or how her weekend at Grandma's was swimming in her pool. Painting ceramic figures with the children before going to bed, reading their favorite books the children before they go to bed. When I put the children to bed and they say "love you Ms. Jeni, see you tomorrow." with a big hug. I love seeing children learning, how to count, know there colors, just watching the children grow up getting smart and growing taller.
