Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
In high school I was a part of the Early Childhood Education CTE program where I student taught the preschool class that we had in our school called the “Little Tanners”. I also student taught art class to a special needs high school class and during my senior year of high school I got to do an externship at one of my local elementary schools where I student taught a special needs preschool class. Outside of school, I worked 1.5 years in daycare with ages from infants, toddlers, to preschool. I primarily worked with infants which is the age group I currently work with and have my own designated classroom along with my co-teacher. I am EEC certified as a preschool, toddler, and infant teacher which has been earned through my experience in childcare along with classroom hours from high school/college courses.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I strongly believe children learn best through play and hands-on experiences. I focus on creating fun, safe activities like sensory play, music, storytelling, and creative arts that support developmental skills while keeping children engaged and happy. Some of these activities range from sensory bins, water play, finger painting, dancing/movement games, coloring and simple crafts, play dough sculpting, playground play, and nature scavenger hunts.

The most important part of being a nanny is creating a safe, nurturing environment where children feel secure, supported, and encouraged to learn. I believe children develop best through play and hands-on experiences, so I focus on engaging them in activities that support their curiosity and development. It’s also important to build trust with both the child and the family by being dependable, attentive to the child’s needs, and maintaining open communication with parents about routines, progress, and any concerns.
My experience with special needs children...
As I noted before, I student taught two different special needs classes with preschool students and high school students. Most of these students had autism, down syndrome, and/or physical disabilities. I also became a Behavior Technician for a few months and worked with this one client who was a 6-year old kid with autism, Down syndrome, and was hard of hearing which allowed me to learn some sign language. In addition to my experiences, my younger sister has autism and dyslexia, so I experienced first hand a child with special needs since I was 5-years old.
