A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Juhee, and I am a graduate of the University of Washington's Speech-Language Pathology master's program and working Speech-Language Pathologist in the public schools (preschool~high school ages). I am also a bilingual (fluent in Korean). With 2+ years of experience including my internships (ages 9 months~21 years old), I thus have extensive knowledge about the intersections of being educational, entertaining, and accessible. I regularly work with students with disabilities, often with more than just communication disorders, and seek to match their interests in an individualized way. In the process, I will collaborate with parents, among other school professionals.

I hope to use my knowledge of child development and passion for engaging with kids to best support them :)

On a fun note, I have multiple years of experience in musical theater, choir, dance, and soccer!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Career: I am currently working Speech-Language Pathologist in the public schools (preschool~high school ages). Thus, in tandem with 2 years of internships (ages 9-months to 21 years), I have 2+ years working with children with disabilities/strategies for managing behavior/working with neurodivergent kids! Settings I have worked in: schools, private practice, outpatient hospitals, and university clinics.

Language: I am fluent in Korean and have experience as a teaching assistant at a Korean school in Seattle. I also have some rudimentary French and ASL skills.

Research: I have had 3 years of research experience with infants and toddlers who are hard-of-hearing and "typically" developing.

Volunteer: I have been an after-school STEM mentor for middle school students as well!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I have several years of choir, musical theater, dance, and soccer experience. Generally, I also enjoy board games, puzzles, drawing/coloring, reading books, child-led play, and imaginative play.

I hope to be a reliable caregiver and supporter who can improve a child's day-to-day experience; whether it's a teaching moment or a fun playtime, I hope to be a reassuring presence!

My experience with special needs children...

As a speech-language pathologist, I work with children with communication disorders and/or other co-occurring disabilities. This includes: disorders of articulation/phonology, receptive/expressive language, learning, feeding/swallowing, neurodevelopment (e.g., Autistic, ADHD), social communication, voice, oral-motor skills, traumatic brain injury, and/or intellectual disabilities. I also have worked with individuals who have rare syndromes (e.g., Lowe, Prader-Willi) or specific behavioral profiles (e.g., Autistic pathological demand avoidance profile). Finally, I have worked with children who have complex medical needs (e.g., seizures).
