More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve worked in elementary schools in my community as a Teacher’s Assistant, supporting children in language and math. I worked with both kindergarten and middle school students, helping make lessons engaging and easy to understand. I prepared materials, kept the classroom clean and organized, and assisted with behaviour management. I also participated in the Guelph Outdoor school’s Raccoon program, an outdoor initiative with games, music, and nature-based activities.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy working with children through creative activities such as origami and drawing to encourage imagination and self-expression. I enjoy creating and singing simple songs with children that support confidence, and positive values. Reading stories is something I truly value, especially sharing in children’s curiosity, questions, and excitement. I also enjoy spending time outdoors with children, exploring and using materials from nature for fun, creative art projects.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important thing about working with children to me is creating a safe space. Childhood is a special time where you experience the world for the first time and begin learning who you are, and that can be both exciting and overwhelming. As adults, I feel we carry the responsibility to protect that space and help children grow into the happiest, healthiest, and best version of themselves, so they can one day do the same for others.

I was fortunate to have a childhood filled with laughter and creativity, and I carry a deep, meaningful nostalgia for it. I want to use that gratitude and nostalgia to do my part in passing on the gift of a safe, joyful childhood to the generations that follow.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favourite experiences working with children was during a co-op placement. I remember a group of students who loved the song Pretty Little Baby. They sang it all the time!! The group organized a small lunch “concert” where they sang and danced to this song. It was a simple moment, but very special to witness their happiness, and willingness to express themselves so freely, while their classmates joined in with nothing but giggles, it was so sweet! I also remember tutoring a student in printing their name. At first, the child was often hesitant to speak, and easily discouraged. Through our work together, they grew more confident in both their skills and personality, and seeing that progress was very rewarding. Another memorable moment was taking the bus to mass, The students were overjoyed to ride the bus, their laughter and amazement reminded me how meaningful everyday experiences can be through a child’s eyes. These moments of growth, joy, and wonder are what I valued most.
