A little bit about me

Hello!

I have been a Sedona resident for nearly 5 years. I'm currently studying to be a midwife, and am looking for a nanny job to support myself through school.

I have extensive childcare experience. I grew up with 5 younger siblings and working parents.
At 12 years old I began to nanny 3 children (ages 3, 3 and 6) at a local summer camp while their parents worked.
I tutored a young girl with downs syndrome throughout high school.
I nannied 2 young girl and their brother for 3 years in Colorado Springs. (ages 1, 3, and 6)
I've also held several regular babysitting jobs throughout the years.
I'm NRP and CPR certified.

I have a passion for children, for slowing down, for meeting their curiosity and planning around their interests. It's important to me that your child(ren) feel safe and heard.
I've worked closely with Waldorf methods of learning.
I prioritize being present with children, without distractions.

I love to follow children in their interests, whether that be blankets forts or playing cars. I do prioritize outside time (with awareness of weather and sun exposure!)

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think it is imperative to have a good relationship with the child, and to read the energy. I want to take the time to build the relationship so a child feels safe. When a child feels safe they flourish.
I also think it's important to know when a child needs time to calm down and read books, or when it makes sense to go for a walk or adventure.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment was with a 2 year old. She would ask her mom where "Lydida" was. Initially her mom thought she was saying "little door," until her older sister (4yr) explained she was asking for me.

This family got a golden doodle puppy. The girls absolutely loved him! One day they took turns running up to him and singing "Old McDonald Had a Farm." The pup was behind a gate, but he would get excited and bark. This would startle the girls and they would jump back and fall on their bum laughing, before doing the same thing over again.

I love the laughter kids get from just being present.
