A little bit about me

I'm 27 years old, a life long artist of all mediums, and a lover of physical sports, as well as creative gavels top games. I am excellent at multi tasking, was a lifeguard at just 16 so I have baked in knowledge of CPR, swim safety, and taking command during emergency situations big and small. I love traveling and helping kids maintain their wonder of discovering the world while also being safe, and trying to keep them off screens. I grew up as the eldest cousin on both sides of my family, and baby sat growing up consistently. I studied communications, art, and psychology in university and outside of it for my own edification, so making sure I can do right by others and myself is important to me.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been a coach, a lifeguard, a child's entertainer, a baby sister, a part time nanny, and I also have been the designated child labor protection officer on film sets.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Any kind of sport I can usually pick up even if I've never played it before, exploring nature, doing fun and easy crafts with them or helping them make something artistic. I also sing and dance alright and try to stay in line with what kids are into so I can talk to them on their level and if you allow them to post and do screen based activities I like to learn about them so I can play with them and/or cheer them on as best I can. I also love to teach kids fun facts and watch documentaries with them about where they live before going there and seeing everything we learned about and trying to get them to put those facts into use for expanding how they see their own world.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is being there for your kids, in whatever shape they need, and making sure they know they are safe with you. I've seen a lot of kids grow up feeling unsafe in their own homes, and to getting to be a part of their world as an adult who cares for them also means I want them to feel they can come to me with any of their worries or joys. Also making sure they respect your authority without resorting to cruelty. You can be friendly with them while still being like a good big sister/aunt/semi parental figure in their lives as a nanny so they can learn how to be good people as they grow. It's important to lead by example and make sure they know you care.

My experience with special needs children...

I've cared for kids who are mute, ADHD, and autistic. So long as a child does not become violent with me or people around us including themselves, I can handle many disabilities as I continually educate myself on how kids growing up with those disabilities might need help from strangers if they get lost or if I ever need to help one at work.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite coaching moments was sitting down with my girls for cheer camp and teaching them all about this series of "the worlds grossest animals" I had learned about and the why for every animal or insect. We'd achieved our goals early and had about 30 minutes for a snack break and they wanted to hear something funny. I think every girl after was asking me for more fun facts for the rest of camp and several parents came up and asked how I got their daughters wanting to go outside to find the "gross bugs" to see them up close. It made me happy that the silly stories and facts I told them genuinely sparked an interest in the outdoors, while also winning our cheer camp spirit award that year. A lovely group of kids.

McCall V. - Seeking Work in New York

Live-In Part-Time Nanny Available in New York, NY: McCall V.

I am currently a live-in Au Pair for three wonderful children in Milan, Italy. The children are 8, 10 and soon to be 12. I have absolutely loved my experience working with children in this way. I feel like I have been able to build a great bond between all of my kids. This is a job that suits me very well.

Prior to my move to Milan (in January), I was an analyst at Mastercard for two years based out of the flatiron office. I moved to Italy so I could have time to think about my career and what I want to do next.

So far this experience has only confirmed my prior belief that my calling is to work with children. I am still contemplating on whether or not I go back to school to pursue an early childhood education degree.

I am originally from Westchester but my mom moved to the UES when I was 17 and after graduating college in May of 2023, I spent two years living in the Bowery. New York is my home and although I have loved living abroad, I want to be closer to my nieces.
