Relevant experience where I also cared for children were…I have been an elementary school teacher for two years. Helping children learn and grow is a strong passion of mine, and the look a child gives when discovering something new is priceless! I bring strong educational programs to all families who want to see a spark in their child's intellect and curiosity.
Activities I enjoy doing with children…Sports are a great way to bond and grow with children. I hold a firm belief that every child can find a sport they enjoy. From fishing to football, bowling to basketball, or skiing to soccer, athletic ability does not matter when it comes to having a good time.
However, there are some children that are either too young or not able to play sports. For them, I love bonding through artistic activities! Crafts and music are great bringers of joy, and I have an catalog of fun that I bring on day one. Message me if you want to see your child having the time of their life in a safe and meaningful way!
The most important part about being a nanny…Creating a safe, entertaining, and inspiring environment is key when watching over children. Every child wants to feel appreciated and heard. There are times when serious tasks need to be accomplished, like homework and chores, but a child needs a fun environment as well! However, safety can never take second place to fun, and I ensure that every child I am with is having a great time where they are not putting themselves at risk of injury. Children also need to be uplifted and inspired. The curiosity children possess is unmatched, and it is important to feed that curious spirit whenever they take interest in a subject. I want all children to know that they have the power to change the world and be their best self!
My experience with special needs children…Part of my career as a teacher was filling in for different classes. One of the classes I filled in for was a differently-abled class. The joy and love those kids showed was inspiring, and I quickly learned the type of care that they required. As long as you reciprocate that same loving energy, you will have an easy time adjusting to their particular needs. Even non-verbal children show their personalities and care in countless ways, you just have to listen!
My favorite nanny moment…Being a teacher of 30 students, I have had countless memorable moments. But one that has stuck with me most was a tearful child who showed up at my classroom after school. Little Leo told me he was moving to a different state, and he wanted to tell me how much he would miss me while he was gone. He said I was the "goodest teacher he ever had." I had the biggest grin on my face and realized in that moment the impact that I had on his school experience. That only further fueled my love for helping kids, and I wanted to spend more time mentoring and helping Leo. That's when I understood that as much as I loved helping a class full of kids, you can't get to know them all on a deep level. Being a nanny gives me that opportunity, and allows me to change a kid's life in a meaningful way!
