More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I started my career in childcare by working in a home daycare and then moved on to start babysitting and part-time nannying while finishing highschool. After this, I transitioned into working in center-based care as an assistant teacher in an infant classroom. I went on to assistant teach toddlers and pre-k, and later lead teach both.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I LOVE making projects and crafts with littles. It was one of my favorite things to do in our infant room. Pinterest has the best kids craft ideas! I love playing outside, going for walks, swimming, going to a playground, etc. I also love reading stories and singing silly songs. My pre-k kiddos and I make some of the coolest projects and sing and read plenty during our day! I also love to be snuggled up or playing on the floor with the littler ones. I love my Pre-k's but miss my infant days too!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Oh, there are so many important parts! One of the biggest being building a bond with the child(ren). You're going to be spending a lot of time together and likely it will seem like you become family. Getting to know them, their needs, their struggles and strong suits, their favorite things and activities, what comforts them and what makes them uneasy. I also think a super important part is communication with parents to ensure everything goes smoothly and they are receiving care that is up to their standards. Not only that, but making sure the nanny is comfortable as well as the child and parent. Everyone has to be on the same page! Oh, and to never let things get boring! Whether that means doing their favorite thing every single day, or finding new things to play, create, explore and visit every day! Always keep it fun!! (and soak up the snuggle time)

My experience with special needs children...

My experience with special needs children is limited, but I do have some. In my time as a para I have worked with a range of students, whether their challenges be strictly behavioral or special needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are lots of memories with my previous nanny family that I hold very close to my heart. The 3yo boy in this family loved to dance, so almost every day, we would put on the music and dance around, his baby sister included, until we were all tired out. He would say "Alexa, play Fireball!" and we'd dance away!! Another favorite were the smiles and snuggles from the 1yo every day after nap before her brother woke up.
