A little bit about me

Hello. My name is Riley. I’m a college student who is looking to help out some families while making money for life. I’m 23 and have my own car. I speak a small amount of Dutch, since my partner is from there. I know some simple baby sign language and simple words in Spanish. I had lots of littles in my family and grew up helping watch them. So, I’m experienced with just about everything. A little about me is I spent a year as an aupair in the Netherlands for a family with 4 kids ages (1-10). I have roughly 9 years of experience off and on with families. I have experience with infant all the way through preteen.

I currently live in Merritt island. I will finish my AS degree in early childhood education in the fall.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I currently work with two different families with toddlers. A 2 year old and a 3 year old. I am also in college for early childhood education! I have been an aupair in the Netherlands for a wonderful family with 4 children (ages 1-8) I also have experience with a larger group of children (as many as 6) with ages ranging from 2-10 during their after school routine. I’ve worked in a preschool in 1-3 year old classrooms as well. I have also worked with families who have multiple close in age littles. I’ve also been exposed to many different kinds of circumstances. Like, ADHD, asthma, food restrictions and allergies. (I myself have allergies so I understand the importance)

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Arts and crafts. Playing in the yard. Going on walks. Going to the park. Skill building activities, Going to indoor play places. Making cookies. Watching a movie. Reading books. Singing and dancing. Playing with water (sprinkler,water balloons, etc).

The most important part about being a nanny...

I take being a nanny very seriously because the moment I watch your child I step into their lives. I want to step into your child’s life as a reliable and trustworthy person. By becoming that figure to your child, I realize they will watch and learn from everything I do. Even if I watch them an hour a week they pay more attention than you realize. I take my job seriously because I become a stable adult in your child’s life as well as a role model they look to on how to act.

My experience with special needs children...

I have a young niece with autism who had a speech delay that I’ve cared for. I have watched multiple kids and family members with ADHD. I also have experience with multiple different food allergies like nuts, lactose intolerance, and celiac disease. I have used inhalers. I have helped kids with learning delays and processing disorders as well.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was watching a little girl who had a speech delay, and we worked on building her word count while I watched her. She slowly gained confidence and started to identify letters and animals! Before, she only said a few words, just pointing or making noises. It was so special to be there with her in that moment of her life and to see her trying her hardest to use new words to communicate.
