More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My Grandmother is an elementary special education teacher, and I have helped her since I was young with her classes. Especially when they go on field trips or have summer programs. I also have babysat many children aged 1-12 over the years, my most consistent babysitting clients were a two year old, and an eight year old that I would watch for on average 8 hours, I would cook and clean as well. During my last two years of high-school I was a part of the Junior Achievement program, and we went and helped teach at an elementary school for the program.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love reading with children, and playing imagination games. I enjoy a lot of outside activities, especially ones that involve learning. It honestly depends on the family and what they like, but I prefer low screen time when I am babysitting, so I like to plan the activities I am going to do for the day depending on the child I am watching.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important part about being in any sort of childcare is communication. With families of course but also very specifically with children. I think the way you speak to and with children is so important, and making sure they learn how to properly communicate and also understand others is important. I think a good nanny is somebody who is passionate about childcare and child development. Somebody who is willing to learn, but more importantly cares about teaching and nurturing. Patience and compassion when it comes to children is so important, and children learn so many important life skills from the people around them. I also think setting and teaching them boundaries is good as well. I think working closely with the parents always, to fit the childs needs is the most important. I hope to find a family who's needs I fit, and who are looking for a nanny who cares about their family, and their child.

My experience with special needs children...

I dont have experience being a full-time caregiver for special needs children, but I grew up consistently around special needs children with my experiences with my grandmother, and also family members. There is a range of different disabilities, so I think it would just depend on the scenario if I am a good fit or not for your family. I have the most experience with verbal and nonverbal autistic and on the spectrum children, I have mild experience with children with more physical disabilities. I have a lot of experience with children with things such as severe adhd, and issues such as food aversions, and other sensitivities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment is when I was babysitting one of my clients, and she gave me this little tangled flower chain she made. It was so so cute because I had shown her a while back how, and she didn't really remember how to make one but she tried for me, with clovers because she knew Iliked them, and it really warmed my heart because I was having a hard week.
