I have 2 kids needing after school care. The right person should be able to pick up my 4 year old from preschool, and my 7 year old from the bus stop. Hours would be Monday-Friday 9am-6pm. I also need help keeping up the housework (dishes, laundry, cleaning). We have a dog and cat. Occasionally there may be a 10 year old girl joining as their half sister comes to visit every other weekend.

A little bit about us…

Our cool toddler turned 4 in August, and loves to play with cars/trucks, ride his bike, and play outside. He also loves books and spending time 1 on 1 talking and learning. Our 2nd born turned 2 in August, and is learning to so much so fast, he’s very sweet and cuddly, but also independent and full of zest. He loves to smile and is happy to be anywhere that people are!

Hours are flexible, during the week 15-20 hours over 2 or 3 days. Any day of the week is fine. Occasional weekend/evenings. Opportunity for overnights and travel. Priority is for those who have CPR and first aid training. Light housekeeping and meal prep is much appreciated during the kids’ nap time.

We do have a nice cat and a lab/collie as well, they are very low maintenance.

I’m looking for someone who is:
Driven
Loves spending time with kids
Excels at time management
Always putting safety first
Not afraid to ask questions
Not afraid to be silly with the boys

A little bit about us…

Looking for a reliable part time sitter who can be flexible between 6 AM - 3:30 PM any time between Monday and Friday. Hours and days will vary but usually not over 20 in a week. My job is on call. No pick up or drop off needed, but must have your own transportation to get to our home if outside of Stayton/Scio/Jefferson range. Light breakfast or lunch may need to be prepared. We live in the country so the kids enjoy time outdoors or on walks. Our big kid is homeschooled and self sufficient. Mostly it is my 3 and 1 year old who need care.

Types of Nanny Jobs and Nanny Responsibilities in Oregon

Before you start looking for a nanny job, it's essential to learn about the different types of nannies and how they compare to each other so that you make sure you’re looking for the right opportunities.

The different types of nanny jobs have different nanny responsibilities. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. However, in general, a nanny is responsible for making sure the children's needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to make sure your expectations are aligned with the family.

There are temporary nanny jobs, even seasonal nanny jobs like summer nanny jobs. Beyond seasonal and temporary nanny positions, there are differences between full-time and part-time nanny jobs. The primary difference being the number of hours you spend at your nanny job every week. For full-time nannies, there are options for live in nanny positions and live-out positions in Oregon. Live-out positions are more common, but each family has their own set of needs that require different types of care, and live in nanny positions can be exactly what some families want. If you're looking to explore live in nanny positions, it's even more important to create a shared set of expectations around hours, responsibilities, and what is expected of you when you're not on the clock.

  • What do you think children like best about you?
  • What kind of activities will you do with children this age?
  • How do you handle problems that arise behaviorally and emotionally with kids this age?

Beyond answering questions, families will want you to have your nanny references ready and ask any questions to show initiative.
