2009 to 2010: Montgomery, IL Bus Driver Transported disabled students to various Special Education Schools within the community, utilizing a 23 or 40 foot bus. Managing challenging behaviors ensuring that students were safe and informed on acceptable social behaviors while in route. 2006 to 2009 Aurora, IL Teacher’s Assistant A unique alternative private elementary and high school facility whose purpose is to educate any at-risk or developmentally delayed life-skill student or traditional student who has been unsuccessful in traditional school settings, regardless of behaviors. As an instructional aide my focus was to work with students who were associated with gangs, some violet, or severely abused, most with severe behavioral disorders. Other students’ behavioral impairments were secondary to Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, and Developmentally Delayed Individuals. In this position my responsibility was to teach basic life skills, with appropriate behavior modification utilizing consistent and firm directives, thereby integrating adolescents into main stream social settings. Students are taught modified general academics and social skills necessary to succeed in the community in a non-threatening manner 1999 to 2001 1:1 Special Needs Teacher's Aide/BD Class Room TA Initially responsible for being a 1:1 aide for a non-vocal student with behavioral disabilities and Downs Syndrome. This student and I built a great rapport through my efforts of utilizing Hershey's Kisses to motivate the student to speak. Mission accomplished! Student's father came into school to personally thank me for assisting his son to speak. Also, for supporting the student to correct his BD conduct through firm directives. This student was at risk to be expelled from school for his personal tantrums and unacceptable mannerisms. Our initial interaction was much like an Anne Sullivan/Helen Keller teaching situation. Increased from 1:1 to 2:1 aide when the Special Needs Coordinator determined that the student's behavior was successfully modified to be integrated to include another mild mannered Downs Syndrome student. In a new school year, became a BD/ED/LD classroom aide. Modified course work curriculum for students. Converted tests i.e. specific subject work to fit student's level of comprehension as well as their individual intellectual capacity. Built rapport with students and motivated them to behave in an acceptable manner in school, most times.

Beginning at the age of 14 in a small farm town in Kansas, I was called upon by friends, family, and members of our church to safely care for many of their little ones on a regular basis. Living on the north side of Chicago in early 2005 I had the pleasure of fine tuning my child care and development skills by nannying twin boys named Dakota and Dylan. I joined the family when the boys were 3 weeks old and helped them grow leaps and bounds until they were around 6 months. Unfortunately, I had to part ways with the family and return to Kansas to care for my mother who was battling cancer. In March of 2009 I connected with a wonderful family and cared for their 3 children for almost two years. We remain close friends and continue to have regular play dates with their children. I left this position in November 2010 to have my second child. Now, I currently a stay at home mom to Piper an almost 3 year old energetic girl and Pax an 8 month old boy. They will be accompanying me to my future nanny position with you (either in your home or mine if you prefer.
