A little bit about me

I am a bubbly, cheerful and active 30 years old woman. I grew up in San Mateo, CA and just recently moved back to California from Oahu, Hawaii. While living there I became a Pre-K teacher. I attended San Francisco State University and have my BA in Early Childhood Education. I am adopted and grew up in a home that does foster care. I have learned that I wanted nothing more than to work with children.
At the age of twelve I started babysitting which shortly grew into nannying. I have been able to work some wonderful amazing families. I am used to working with up to four children at a time. With my extreme background I have been had the joy of being able to be a nanny for first time parents along with other families that have multiple children and twins. I also have traveled domestic and international with families. I love the one-on-one relationships I am able to build with the children along with making amazing memories with families. It excites me that I have the ability to make a child smile and know that somehow I made a difference that in that child’s life. I thoroughly enjoy what I do.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Kaneohe, HI

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Kaneohe Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Kaneohe? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Kaneohe?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in HI? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
