A little bit about me

I'm 17 years old and I'm great with kids!! I have been babysitting my whole life but never been a nanny professionally!! I'm a pretty shy person at first but I warm up pretty quickly!! I don't mind doing light house work or cooking small things for the kids!! I'm good with animals as well so I don't mind pets!!

A little bit about me

I'm a proud(Young) Nana of 6 beautiful babies myself, I have 2 dogs. I was a Medical Assistant for 15 years before I became an Medical Instructor for Ross Medical Education Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The first job I had was when I was 12 yrs. old I took care of a 6 mon. old baby boy for the summer.
I am one of the middle of 8 children in my family, I have always been taking care of someone, besides that, my father has 9 siblings and they would ask me to babysit their children for them while they would go out for date night, or parent-teacher conference. Plus, my mom would leave me in charge of the entire household when she would leave for teacher's conference for a week every year and I would be responsible for my 4 younger siblings, running the household, feeding everyone, keeping the house clean, clothes washed and I did that before age 14.
I love to laugh, have fun, smile and be happy. For some reason which I do not understand dogs, babies, and children seem to like me.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Decherd, TN

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Decherd Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Decherd? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Decherd?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in TN? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
