35 plus years of volunteer work, which has included much time spent with children from a variety of circumstances & backgrounds. We adopted 3 children out of love as a result. This was a natural progression from being the eldest of 9 children growing up, as I learned to appreciate youth as people too, and also the importance of giving parents well-deserved breaks :)

I am creative enough to initiate ideas that come from home and the heart but also enjoy engaging in whatever the child likes to do, inside and outside of the house. I particularly enjoy doing fun things in the kitchen

"It takes a village"-so true. We all need each other. Kids need us and it feels good to assist in some way, and I enjoy receiving what they teach too.

4 times now I have gotten GIANT BEAR hugs from successful adults I used to care for when they were little. Nothing is better, being treasured and remembered for the entire experience! One moment was with a sulky teen, who refused to interact with his family. His parents told me to just ignore him; his moods were that bad. I stayed with him and his sister for one week. At the end of this period, he came out of his room and decided he wanted to be a part of the family again because of my personal interest and encouragement. Making a difference, big or small, means so much to me.
