I have been babysitting since I was 13 years old but working with adults & children with special needs really has become my true passion.
I just finished my 5th summer at an adaptive playground program for people ages 5-25 years old with a range of special needs. Prior to being a paraprofessional & while I was, I spent a few years as a caregiver for a boy(12-16) with ASD. I also spent a couple years working for an Independent Living company where 4-5 adults with special needs lived in a house together, but still needed assistance with things like cooking, cleaning, bathing, laundry & transportation as well as simple reminders to take meds or go to sleep.
